Finals in Culinary II

Today was my Cooking final. I did a dry run last night to plan out my timing and used my sister as a guinea pig. :-) she didn't mind! This morning was the real thing! Half our class did their tests yesterday and the rest today. We got 3 hours to make a Consomme brunoise (clear soup with vegetables cut in brunoise), a sauteed chicken breast with Chasseur sauce on top, then steamed broccoli and hollandaise on top. Last night, almost everything went as planned, and it sure made me more comfortable this morning! I was the first to serve my Consomme and my entree to the chef. Starting at 7am, I served the Consomme at 8:30am and the rest at 9:20am. I finished 40 minutes ahead of schedule and before the 15 people that were cooking the same thing. I don't usually like to brag ;-) but I am SUPER proud of myself.

Highlights for this past week are as following:

Here's Jonathan clearing the snow off the front steps on Sunday. He was such a good worker!!

Here is Justin, Chef W, and Connor making the espagnole sauce.

Here we are lined up like cattle in our buffet line. Yum!!

Pork with Creole Sauce, Cesar salad, and dutchess potatoes was on our buffet.

Justin and James are busy eating.

Yesterday I brought Jonathan to the school to visit. He's wearing my skull cap, playing ball with Isaiah.

Here is a banana dessert that was brought in to our Chef instructor that was out of this world!!

Isn't it gorgeous?!?
