Good food and lots of homework.

Yesterday we got our first day of a hectic (hell's) kitchen setting. The VP of academics instructed, monitored and whipped us into shape in a matter of an hour an a half. Unfortunately, my Fudge brownie partner didn't know what greasing a pan meant, because we were struggling at the end when the head chef was doing most of the yelling. I tried to laugh it off, but it was seriously annoying. I asked some other kids who have actually worked in restaurants before if that was anything resembling how it was really like. They informed me that it was a bit unrealisitic--there are deadlines, but you won't be dead if you don't make them. It's ok to get us in the mood for the possibility of working for a drill seargant in the future, but seriously..calm down! hehehe..

Anyways, on to the more important piece of yesterday.. the finished product!

This is grilled chicken breast topped with a Red Pepper Coulis

Chinese Long Bean Salad with tangerines and Sherry-Mustard Vinegrette

Spinach Salad with Marinated Shiitakes and Red Onions

Warm Salad of Hearty Greens, Blood Oranges (but as you can see, they were not available), and Pomegranate Vinegrette.

Quinoa Pilaf with Red and Yellow Peppers

And finally, Fudge Brownies (cooked in a round pan)

The whole experience just left us craving for more, and waiting to eat!

Here we are, starting at our creations before our feast!

This is going to be every Tuesday and Thursday morning for us for the next 3 weeks. I'm ready. At least we know what to expect now.
